===+++=== 26/12/2007 ===+++===
With the close of the 2007 Epic Painting Competition (EpiComp07), I have now uploaded the galleries of submissions
for inspiration and to begin the voting process. Check them out in the Showcase or Library sections.
===+++=== 28/11/2007 ===+++===
Another issue of Warp Rift has arrived with us. Issue fifteen can now be found in the Warp Rift area of this site.
===+++=== 20/09/2007 ===+++===
Another month, another update. We now have issue 14 of Warp Rift. This latest issue has a host of inspiration
for players, from the results of the recent GothiComp, through comment from a member of the High Admiralty, to
new scenarios for your games.
===+++=== 15/08/2007 ===+++===
The Eldar MMS rules have now been updated. Download version 1.6 in the Rules section.
===+++=== 08/08/2007 ===+++===
With the 2007 Battlefleet Gothic Painting Competition now over, the gallery is available and the voting will begin.
This years submissions can be accessed via the Showcase or the Library.
===+++=== 24/07/2007 ===+++===
Unlucky for some, issue thirteen of Warp Rift has now arrived. This issue has a host of new features for the most
dedicated player, including instructions to create your own Voss pattern prows, two scenarios, fiction, showcases and
more.
===+++=== 22/05/2007 ===+++===
Has it been two months already? Another issue of Warp Rift (issue 12) has docked. This issues sees an excellent
battle report between Eldar Corsairs and Imperial Marines, a spotlight on the Marine Strike Cruiser, some excellent
cruisers allied to the Imperium and Nurgle, the continuation of last issues fiction piece, another Lexicon, this
time looking at a Dark Eldar vessel, and an article on the major different Craftworld fleets of the Eldar. As always,
feedback and submissions are always welcomed.
===+++=== 26/03/2007 ===+++===
Issue Eleven of Warp Rift, our own publication dedicated to Battlefleet Gothic, is long overdue. New material for
the publication has been thin on the ground, and this lead to a break in the schedue. When Roy (Horizon) showed
an interest in getting things moving again, I decided to pass on the reigns of publication, since I simply no
longer have the time to do it justice. Issue Eleven is his first issue as editor, and I think that he has done an
excellent job. Judge for yourself. Jump over to the Warp Rift section and download this issue. As always, any kind
of feedback is extremely welcome, and submissions are required to keep the publication alive.
===+++=== 15/02/2007 ===+++===
The Battlefleet Gothic Eldar MMS rules have now been updated, to version 1.5. Available in the 'Rules' section.
===+++=== 25/09/2006 ===+++===
I have updated the Battlefleet Gothic new Eldar rules - referred to as MMS (Move Move Shoot). These are now
the latest version, and replace those originally found in Warp Rift.
===+++=== 04/09/2006 ===+++===
The GothiComp06 gallery has now been added to this site. It can be accessed from either the Library (in the site
archive section) or the Showcase Gallery (in, naturally, the BFG section). You can vote via the Tactical Command
boards.
===+++=== 24/08/2006 ===+++===
Work continues on transferring the EpiComms boards to the new site, and re-branding it as Tactical Command. In
the meantime, Neal Hunt has sent me his Blood Axe Orc list for Epic Armageddon (now available in the Additional Rules
section of this site). Feel free to visit the forum and let him know what you think.
===+++=== 16/06/2006 ===+++===
GothiComp06: The '2006 Battlefleet Gothic GothiComms Painting and Converting Competition'
has now started! This years event follows very similar lines to the 2005 competition. To enter, you just need to
be a member of GothiComms and submit a picture of your vessel. The GothiComms community will then vote on a winner
based on the painting ability and ideas. In addition, every vessel entered will automatically also be considered for the conversion prize.
Voted on by the GothiComp committee this will reward the vessel that displays the 'best' conversion/building. The
prizes for both parts of this competition are a Battleship (up to the value of fifteen pounds) delivered to your door.
These prizes are very kindly provided by Specialist Games (and I would like to thank them for supporting the game
through a contribution that they get no payback for and which is not even run under their banner). So, I really
hope to see what you guys come up with!
===+++=== 26/02/2006 ===+++===
Warp Rift issue ten caused some discussion in the BFG community, particularly the Eldar MMS rules. So, blackhorizon
and Sigoroth have sent me an updated version, including some re-formatting and improved presentation. It will be updated
and kept in line with future developments. This 'new and improved' document is now available in the 'New Rules' section of the site.
===+++=== 10/02/2006 ===+++===
It had to happen, another issue of Warp Rift hits the... umm... shelves. Issue Ten sees some new and suggested rules
for the Eldar Corsair fleet. There have been a number of comments about the fleet as presented in the core rule
book, and this is an attempt to address these. Also this issue, some examples of vessels from players from our
GothiComms forum, the third installment of the Bait storyline and a new scenario - Assassination. We are always looking
for feedback here on the Warp Rift command bridge, so feel free to drop me an email and let me know what you think,
or any questions or comments that you might have.
===+++=== 04/02/2006 ===+++===
Wow, has it really been so long since the last update? We have just released a collection of force lists for the
Squats in Epic Armageddon. Jaldon and his group have been working on this for a while, with the support of the general
Epic Armageddon community. Rather than a single list, the force has been split into three directions, and so the
Squat player can now select a force to meet their own playing style. These force lists are now available for
download in the Additional Rules section of this site.
===+++=== 19/09/2005 ===+++===
Another update, another issue of Warp Rift. I am not going to go on about this in too much detail, as you can simply
check it out for yourselves. However, I am very pleased with this issue, and I hope that this will signal a continued
increase in the quality of the publication from here on. Also, I am currently having a few problems with the EpiComms
forums, but I hope to have these sorted out within the next couple of days. Thanks for your patience.
UPDATE: 29/09/2005 - I have added some pictures of new Ork vessels for BFG from Kr00za. The style will be familiar to
the Warp Rift readers out there, but these are new vessels painted up and ready for dispaly. Check them out in the
Showcase.
===+++=== 19/08/2005 ===+++===
Due to a number of enquiries on EpiComms, Neal Hunt has decided to send me his excellent compendium of the Titan
Legions that are known so far. This has now been uploaded to the Battle Groups section of this site. The compendium
lists all Titan Legions which have appeared over the years, along with details such as they colour scheme and
Legion badge.
===+++=== 12/07/2005 ===+++===
Hi, and welcome to a long overdue update. Just the bare minimum update again this time. Warp Rift issue eight finally
hits an unsuspecting public. This issue we see the winners of the GothiComp painting competition. We also have proposed
alternative attack craft rules, ideas for solo play against the Orks, rules for the vessels of the Death Guard, and two
new pieces of fiction from Chris French and Warmaster Ancaris. I hope that this issue is well received, and I would like
to echo the editorial - this pulication really does need fan submissions, articles and ideas. There must be a wealth
of ideas and material out there, and if everyone who downloaded Warp Rift sent in one article, we would have enough to
keep going for more than a year.
===+++=== 11/11/2004 ===+++===
Just one update this time around, as issue five of Warp Rift exits the void. This issue contains an article on the
posibility of Escort Carriers, new rules for alliance fleets in the game, rules for the fleets of the Black Legion,
new fiction and two (count 'em, two!) scenarios - one historically inspired and one as a testbed for some of the new
rules. Feel free to drop me an email and let me know what you think about this issue, any issue or indeed any aspect of
this site - good or bad. All the best.
UPDATE: 06/01/2005 - Happy New Year to all our visitors. Just popping in quickly to let you know that issue six of
Warp Rift has just been uploaded. Of note this issue is the opening of the first Gothic Painting Competition, and I am
looking forward to a lot of spectacular submissions for this. See issue six for informations.
UPDATE: 10/03/2005 - Time seems to be going extremely fast right now, and I am very aware that the updates have been
slow in appearing. I do aim to improve this as quickly as I can, and get some more regular updates online soon after
Easter. In the meantime, issue seve of Warp Rift has just been uploaded. This issue marks the first year of publication,
and we have articles on the tactics of ancient wargames applied to Gothic, rules for Ork Clans and Emperors Children, the
third and final part of the BFG Alliances article and part two of out current fiction, The Bait. We also have a few examples
of the submissions for the GothiComp painting competition, and I hope that as many of you will enter this competition as
possible.
===+++=== 09/09/2004 ===+++===
Just a short update this time around, due to my holiday and a busy life recently. So, this time we see the
arrival of Warp Rift Issue Four (click on the Warp Rift button above). Issue four features a brief introduction
of the Warp Rift team, an article on all Escort Fleets, new rules for the Tau Expansion, new Ork Pirate rules (who
make great opponents for the new Tau), a Chaos Blackstone Fortress and a new chapter in the Captain Sinn saga. So,
another full issue.
In other news, the EpiComms Forum recently announced the advent of the second Epic Painting Competition. This makes
the Thread of the Moment this time around, so click on the link below for more details. Until next time...
UPDATE 04/10/2004: I have received a report from yesterdays Games Day event, emailed to me from stormseer from the EpiComms boards. More
pictures are on the way, but I thought that I would put a taster up rather than making you all wait. The report awaits
you in the Library. I have also added a new link, directed to some excellent PDF versions of the stats for
all of the playtest armies for Epic Armageddon. Check it out.
UPDATE 05/10/2004: I have added the full set of photos to the Games Day 2004 articles in the Library. Enjoy.
===+++=== 01/07/2004 ===+++===
The beginning of a new month, and a new update for the site, even though it is relatively minor. The key addition this
time around is the third edition of the bi-monthly publication supporting Battlefleet Gothic. Warp Rift issue three
hits us, and this issue sees articles on the use of the Eldar fleet in the game, extra rules for the Tau in campaigns,
a whole host of Orky Bitz for all you Warlords out there, the third part in the Captain Sinn series of stories and a
showcase of some of Khyrons excellent ships.
Also this time around, we have an updated version of the Gothic registry in the 'Additional Rules' section of the site,
an essential spreadsheet which allows you to print out ship stats for a game in seconds. This version has added all of
the vessels so far, with the exception of the Tyranid fleet.
===+++=== 25/04/2004 ===+++===
Just a very short update this time, I plan to have a more comprehensive selection of additions to the site shortly.
In the meantime, Salute has been and gone for 2004, and again www.epic40k.co.uk was there. While there was little that
had not already been seen by the outside world from Games Workshop, a few pictures of the event have been added to the
Library section of this site. If you have any further pictures or news from the event, drop me an email and I will add
your contribution to the page. Back shortly...
===+++=== 13/05/2004 ===+++===
Welcome to part two of this update. You should by now have noticed the changes that have been in the pipeline for a while.
I have never really been happy with the previous diamond buttons for this site, and I thought that it was about time
to drag www.epic40k.co.uk kicking into the twentyfirst century. So, I have split the site into three areas, the core area
consisting of the sections to find most of the standard web content, the features which are regular or interactive
parts of the site, and the rest with links and other bits which dont really fit elsewhere. I have also added a
'Quick Link' to take you directly to a section of the site if you know where you want to go. I am much happier with
this structure, and I would very much like to hear your opinions on it all.
Also this update, we have the long-awaited release of issue two of Warp Rift, the Battlefleet Gothic dediacated publication.
This issue sees an extended gunary table for your games, alternative rules for Daemon Vessels, two fiction pieces, a
brief battle report, a worrying list of symptoms to check if you are Gothic dependant and the usual regular (regular,
in issue two?) stuff. I hope you enjoy it. As always, feedback is welcomed and encouraged.
To cap it all off, we also have an extra picture in the 40K gallery, of a huge Shadowsword tank. So, until next update,
all the best and keep sending in your submissions for the site and Warp Rift.
===+++=== 11/03/2004 ===+++===
Welcome to another update of www.epic40k.co.uk. While all updates are special, this one is especially so as it marks
the release of the first issue of Warp Rift. I have been playing with the idea of a web-based magazine dedicated
to Battlefleet Gothic for a while now, a sister publication of Incoming magazine. When Fanatic decided to merge all
their magazines into one, there seemed to be a gap in the market for this kind of thing, and so the decision was made.
Warp Rift is put together by a group of five dedicated Gothic fans, and you can find the first issue and an further
explanation
here. Feel free to get in touch and let me know what you think, what you like and what you would like changed.
Also, this time around, we have an update of the Gothic Magazine Index, bringing this completely up to date for the entire
set of magazines. I also received an email notifying me that the Gothic Fanatic link was broken, and so this has been changed.
If you find any broken links on your travels around this site, please drop me an email to let me know.
That is about it for this time around. All the best.
===+++=== 29/01/2004 ===+++===
Welcome to the first update of 2004. By now, you should have noticed a change across the entire site. I have
decided to try a new font for the site, and I would be extremely interested in your opinions and whether this is
a good thing on your machines.
Also this time around, we have an article on building planets for Gothic from Axtklinge, which you can find
here.
My appologies to Axtklinge as he actually submitted this article a while ago. Alongside this, we have a new link
added on terrain building for your games.
Also this update, the
Gothic Magazine Index
has been updated to included the 2003 Gothic catalogue. Next update will hopefully bring this completely up to date with
issues 16, 17 and 18 of Gothic Magazine. For Epic, the
Crucible of Champions
article has been altered. At this stage,
the only changes are a few minor alterations to the generation tables as a result of feedback. Soon I will present
further articles in the series on playing games with the warbands and advancing them as a result.
Until next time, all the best.
===+++=== 24/12/2003 ===+++===
Happy holidays, and welcome to another overdue update of the site. This actually represents half an update,
as I have more to add as soon as I can access my other PC! Anyway, enough rambling, what do we have this update?
First up, for Epic fans we have a new battle report using the new rules. This report features a rebel Imperial
Guard force fighting against the World Eaters before their heresy and can be found
here.
Also this time around, we have two updates to the De'Aynes Spotters Guide to Gothic, as the Imperial Marine fleet and
the Necrons appear. You can find the Spotters Guide here. Lastly this time around, we have a new
Escort for the Imperial fleet, again provided by Mr Montes. The Sabre adds respectable firepower and good defence,
and can be found here.
That is it for this time around. I will be back as soon as I can with part two of this update. All the best!
===+++=== 04/09/2003 ===+++===
I am back from holiday and ready for another round of updates. This time around we have a revised version of the Epic
battle group that was posted last update. Battle Group Ares had changed and Alan sent me the latest listing to
upload. It can still be found in the Battle Groups section of the site.
Over the last couple of months, I have been working on a warband system for Epic Armageddon, and I humbly
present the first part of this. It is available here and deals with initially setting up
a warband for the system, generating a champion and his retinue and core followers. Later articles (next update) will
look at fighting battles with the warbands, and how they evolve and grow as a result, and the consequences of these
games on your champions route to Daemonhood, or into a Chaos Spawn. Please let me know what you think of these rules,
and any warbands that you generate, as I would be very interested in getting feedback and I will be starting a new
thread in the EpiComms forums.
Also this update we have a couple of stories: Kirandriels Storm by Shadow Hunter, and
A Different Kind of War by Patrick Hegarty. I should use this opportunity to put a call out for fiction. I am always
particularly happy to accept short fiction of this type, so please send in whatever you have.
On the rules front, we have three new vessels for Battlefleet Gothic, all from Nathan Montes. The
Relentless Cruiser is an addition to Imperial fleets, providing solid weapons batteries with serious torpedo
armament, while the
Regent Light Cruiser and Ranger Carrack provide supporting fire and transport to an Imperial fleet. To finish off,
the links section of the site sees three addiitons, Tuffskulls commission painting work, the official Epic site and
a Blood Angel site created by Sheldon. Anyway, I guess that will do for this time. Check back again soon for more updates.
===+++=== 14/07/2003 ===+++===
Well, there is no escaping it, it has been a LONG time since the last update. I apologise to everyone who has
been checking back here regularly, and I hope that this will not happen again. What can I say? Real world stuff
just got in the way. Anyway, on with the update...
The above apology goes double to Alan Foley. He sent two articles in a long while ago, and they are only now seeing
the 'light' of the web. Firstly, he has sent details of his epic Battle Group Ares, and secondly he submitted a
story for the library, Ave Imperator. On the Gothc side this update, we have another section of the Spotters Guide.
This has jumped in sequence a little, with the Dark Eldar being examined this time around. However, we do have the]
contribution of Bob Henderson for this update, and he should know the Dark Eldat fleet better than most, as he was
responsible for writing it!
Also for Gothic, I have updated both the Gothic rules index and the Gothic Magazine index to inclue all magazines
up to and including issue 15, and the Gothic Annual. This brought to light a number of issues, such as reprints of rules,
and these are all included in the listing, so you should be able to find what you are looking for.
This update also sees some exciting news for Epic collectors, as we open the first EpiComms Epic Painting Competition.
This competition has been put together by Tas and is supported by the entire EpiComms forum community, who have donated
prizes and helped to put this together. We really want this competition to be a success, so I urge you all to submit
pictures of your painted Epic units. Details of the competition can be found at the link, above. That is it for this
update. I will do everything that I can to make sure that you are not all waiting quite as long for the next one!
All the best.
