Notes

Orks are cool. Its a fact. Although I like the idea of Orks, and for someone who does not like painting skin tones Orks are a great alternative, the problem is that I dont really want to field an entire army of the guys, they are a bit unsubtle. However, this Genestealer list gives me the opportunity to field small numbers of Orks within the background of the army, and while they are not as unreliable as a full Ork force, they are more limited in numbers and play in a similar way to Ork detachments. They should provide an alternative for the army list, and be in character.

I wanted to avoid the traditional Ork troop types, and instead class the basic Orks into one of three roles, instead of the variety available to an Ork player. I see Ork Brood Brothers as abandoning their specialities and instead becoming more generic. When it came to the Support of the detachment, there were very limited options. I have always loved the Stompas, and so I decided on this. The standard Stompa is a bit 'shooty' for the force, so I cut it down a bit so that it fit in more.

Background

Orks are not the ideal host for a Genestealer cult. While they live in similarly social groups to humans, their reproduction methods differ greatly. However, from the Orks point of view, Genestealers represent an almost 'Orky' ideal of getting in close and personal. However, Genestealers elicit a universal response of 'ergh' in Orks.

A meeting between a Genestealer and an Ork usually ends in one of two ways, either the Genestealer implants the Ork as normal, or an extremely fierce combat ensues. Genestealer/Ork cults revolve around fast races to the enemy and brief and bloody combat. Often, an Ork Mek will be infected, or an important Nob with a lot of teeth. When this happens, it is not uncommon for Stompas to be built, and the ideals of Gork and Mork are fused with those of the Genestealers. The result is a Stompa Slysa, which other Orks dont even like to look at straight. They often have more claws and close combat weapons and less guns than traditional Stompas, with bulbous heads, sharp fangs and searchlight eyes, and more purple or blue sections. However, these mobile platforms are ideal for shooting down enemy fliers or destroying larger war machines in close combat.

Notes:
Transporting: Any units in the Ork Brood Bruverz detachment, including any Hybrids (the vehicles are still driven by Orks!), use the Ork transport rules, on page 15 of the Epic Rulebook. Stands hitching a lift are not able to otherwise move, but the vehicles move is unaffected. Stands are simply picked up and dropped off during the vehicles move. Each unit may only hitch a lift once per phase. Ork Wagonz may transport a single stand.
