Notes
I guess that this is the detachment that really started me off. This may sound a bit strange,
since a Genestealer army should centre around its Genestealers, and if I like Brood Brothers
then why not collect an Imperial Guard army? Well, the thought of a huge mob of fanatical
supporters with only basic weapons, charging towards the enemy with no thought for their own
safety captured my imagination. Dont get me wrong, Genestealers are probably my favourite
creature in the 40K Universe, but you have to like Brood Brothers. These are fairly standard
and logical detachments, made up of a lot of human infantry supported by short range armour and
close combat Genestealers. There is also a diversity of troop types from the Imperial Guards
ranks, to give the 'Stealer player a chance to build specialised detachments. However, any
Imperial Guard players are going to find these detachments seriously short on hard hitting
tanks. I have only included tanks if I can really justify them being there, and so there are
not many. The entire army has a maximum range of 45cm, with no fliers or artillery.

Background
While it is unlikely that a Genestealer Cult actively tries to infect members of the local
militia or Planetary Defence Force, it is perhaps inevitable that eventually this will happen.
If successful, a cult has much to gain from this. PDF troops have access to a range of equipment
and armour otherwise unavailable to a cult or standard citizens. And, while it is often noticed
if a detachment of heavy armour goes 'missing', an established cult is able to turn vast numbers
of troops and equipment suddenly, and before others are able to react.
A Genestealer Cult is always surrounded by a huge number of people, from ordinary lives and jobs
who have been 'infected' or simply those who seek to belong to something and are almost unaware of
the motives and reasons for the cult. They are often armed with basic weapons and have surprising
resources. However, the more unusual and powerful weapons and equipment is often out of reach to
a cult, and this, coupled with the Genestealers innate nature to fight at a close range often
dictates the forces and tactics used.
Perhaps the strongest weapons of the Brood Brothers are their utter fanaticism and dedication to the
cult and their large numbers.
