Notes
The Squats are a traditional race in 40K, making their appearance in the original rule book. With all of the first
races being variations on the usual fantasy theme, the Squats emerged as technological space Dwarves, the makers of
equipment with a down-to-earth attitude. They briefly participated in second edition of Epic, with full force lists,
equipment and minis.
However, they were eventually dropped from the core 40K background, as it was felt by Games Workshop that their
character did not fit with the game suitably and that they had been developed down a path which would make it
impossible to alter the race. In a standard GW move, the background was re-written to encompass the final demise of the
Squat race, consumed by the ever hungry Tyranid menace. When further editions of Epic were released, they were not
included and the minis were phased out of production.
However, this left a large minority of players unsatisfied. Some were just fans of the Squats, their different outlook
on the 40K religious dominance and their tough and reliable nature in battle. Others simply had collected large Squat
forces in Epic or 40K, and wanted to be able to use these minis in their games. Thus, the Squat race refuse to lay down
and die.
In particular, Epic attracts the more tenacious players, those people who have collected the game over several editions,
and it is perhaps here that the call for the Squats is the loudest. The Epic community is also not one which is able to
wait for official lists, and even if we were it has been made extremely clear that the Squats will not be back. So, Jaldon
spearheaded the development of the Squat list for Epic Armageddon. He has been ably supported by the community as well as
his gaming group, and we now present the Squat lists for Epic Armageddon players.
Like many of the Epic Armageddon lists, the lists represent specific forces, rather than generic, all-encompassing lists.
When it was clear that different sections of the 'Society for the Protection of the Squat Race in Epic Armageddon' wanted
subtly different things, the original list was divided into three focussed lists, representing three different Squat
Strongholds. So, cast your eyes over the lists, feel free to use them, build them and paint them, and please do pop into
the EpiComms forum to let s all know how you got on.
These lists are presented in PDF format.
