As attacker, the Chaos fleet held the first turn, the cruisers powering forward and the escorts also sliding towards
the enemy, but not at their maximum move so that they could remain in formation with the rest of the fleet. The
Sariel unleashed four wings of Swiftdeath fighters, which buzzed westwards, in order to protect the flank of the
fleet from any early torpedo salvos.
The Legion then blasted a salvo of six torpedoes of its own, sending them heading towards Cobra J squadron. At
the same time, both the Abigor and the Iblis targetted the Renown, the Dauntless being a greater threat than the Cobras
at this range and standing in the way of the exodus. It was also thought that the early casualty of this vessel would
leave the Lord Warden relatively unsupported for future turns. The combined firepower of the Iblis's weapons
batteries and the Abigors lances stripped the shields of the Renown and a lucky critical took out the shield
generators completely, leaving the vessel unprotected for the remainder of the engagment.

The Imperial fleet descended on the Chaos ships. Caught out on the wrong flank, the Sovreign of the Stars went
on Come To New Heading orders, and the while the Pallas failed the command check attempting to do the same
Admiral Stepping used one of his rerolls for such an important early move, succeeding the second time. With
this done, the Lord Warden and Michael Paleoglas then went on Lock On special orders, sacrificing movement
for accuracy of firepower.
As the Imperial fleet glided towards the Chaos lines, it unleashed huge numbers of torpedoes. The Lord Warden,
Renown and Cobra J squadron all fired their torpedo salvos, and this was followed up by the Cobras
inflicting a single hit against the Abigor with their weapons batteries.
With so many warheads on their way, the Abigor prudently decided to Brace For Impact. Tim knew that this was a
critical time in the battle for the Imperial fleet. He had a single cruiser, a light cruiser and a squadron of Cobras in
range, and arrayed before him were four Chaos cruisers. The torpedoes speed onwards, denying the Chaos fighters
any chance of intercepting as they only move first in the Chaos ordnance phase. The Cobras strength ten torpedo
salve slammed into the braced Abigor, its turrets managing to pick off a single missile as it closed. Of the nine
remaining, three detonated, and the braced condition of the Chaos cruiser saved a further two hits, resulting in a
single damage point.
However, the strength six salvo from the Renown was also headed towards the Abigor. This time, the defensive
turrets accounted for fully three of the missiles, and the remaining three failed to hit the cruiser and sped onwards
and out of play. With the this much luck, I was almost through a very testing phase, and only the Lord Wardens
missiles were left. These were fired against the Legion, and while two were shot down by turrets, four continued
through to hit the Grand Cruiser, causing damage and a critical hit which destroyed the shield array and left the
vessel unable to generate protection.
While the damage inflicted on the Legion was a problem, the turn could easily have gone a lot worse for Chaos,
and so I was very happy to end the turn, a single blast marker disipating into the void.

Lord Khan sat on the bridge, watching the scene before him intently with enhanced vision. All at once,
icons flashed and warning sirens went off as the Imperial fleet came within range, powering up their
weapons and routing all the power that they could to them. He ordered the Iblis to keep in formation with the
other cruisers, and stared at the display in front of him. The second that it indicated that the enemy were within
range he bellowed the order to open fire with the main batteries. Shells and plasma were spat violently towards
the nearest enemy, a small cruiser. When the commander of the Abigor saw that the Iblis was claiming first
blood, he added its weight to the barrage, and Khan spat when its lances scored deep valleys in the side of the
target.
The Imperial fleet had not been idle, however. The vessels slid forwards, and suddenly the screens of the Iblis
were filled with torpedo markers. Khan watched with a mixture of fascination and glee as the bulk of the missiles
swept towards the Abigor and her shields flared in succession, along with the detonation of some of the torpedoes
as the turret marksmen found their targets.
