The Iblis
|
|
Background: The Iblis was one of the many ships which were 'liberated' to Chaos as part of the Zarthian
Awakening. She was part of the war group assigned to the pacification, blockade and protection of the Luthian
System. The sub-officers staged a revolt and captured the bridge of the Iblis, then known as Righteous Fury, and
changed the name of the vessel. Since that time, she has seen action on a number of fronts. In the Purbary sub-sector
she broke the back of a squadron of Sword escorts, and contributed the the crippling of three Imperial cruisers. She
has been almost destroyed on two occassions. The first was the result of a Dark Eldar raiding party, which attacked
as a diversion. They were destroyed completely, but the Iblis was placed in star port for repairs for two years. The
second time, she came very close to critical damage, the crew fighting to keep the plasma reactors in check. The entire
engineering crew were destroyed, but they managed to keep her stable for long enough to be tugged back to base.

Tactics: The Murder class cruiser is the epitomy of the gun cruiser. With strong firepower on the broadsides,
she is most effective when in the heart of the enemy formation. She is a dependable work horse of the Chaos fleet, and
it is a rare Chaos force that does not include at least one of these vessels. Like any cruiser, she should not be
over estimated, or underestimated. She needs support, and while a strong and stable vessel she lacks any flare. She
represents a powerful and solid punch. I have found that the Murder forms the backbone of a Chaos fleet. There are
many vessels which have more flare than the Murder, but the cruiser is irreplaceable when things get tough and you are
in need of a reliable salvo.
